Melissa and Tracy are, you guessed it...COUSINS! They grew up together not only as cousins, but as best friends. Cookie Cousins evolved when they saw a need for something new in the Orlando area. Tracy loved baking and Melissa loved art, so their two passions merged by creating delectable decorated sugar-shortbread cookies.

They had fun making these for friends and family from home, but eventually the business got large enough to either ‘go big or stay home’. The decision was made to open a bakery and at this point in their adventure, Tracy stepped out of ownership due to her career as an educator and avid marathon runner. With Tracy as her biggest cheerleader, Melissa continued to open the bakery in the heart of College Park in Orlando, FL in 2009.

Since then, Cookie Cousins has grown to become the go-to hot spot for those looking for a unique gift or just a tasty treat. The cookies are baked fresh from the bakery and with the finest ingredients. They are known for the soft chewy center and perfect balance of sweetness. Each cookie is decorated by hand from our creative staff that passionately produces edible works of art. Cookie Cousins continues to be the sweetest business in Orlando!

“You must be crazy!” is what Melissa would have said 10 years ago if she was told she would own a bakery in the future.

Growing up in Orlando and being surrounded by family and friends, Melissa knew she wanted to live in College Park. She attended the University of Florida, where she met her husband, Terrence, and received both her undergraduate and graduate degree in Education. Melissa went on to teach, but the dream of raising a family soon became a priority. The urge to stay busy got the best of her and the idea for Cookie Cousins began when their first child was only 4 months old. Since then, the Hart family has grown and they currently have 4 children.

Giving back to the community has always been important to Melissa. She currently sits on the board of the College Park Mainstreet, where she is the immediate past president. She is actively involved at her church, First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. She has been involved in and supported organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Make A Wish Foundation, Florida Hospital, Foundation for Foster Children, University of Central Florida College of Medicine, and various schools and churches around Central Florida.

Melissa still can’t believe that this little idea between her and her cousin grew into a thriving business, but she’s thankful for all the support that her family, friends, staff and customers have given her in this unimaginable adventure.
